My story and inspiration in life

Often people ask me why I started yoga… and generally I give the generic “just tried it and liked it” response. But lets get real!

I came to yoga at one of the most vulnerable and traumatic times in my life. A time when I was working in Dublin, in a really well paid job and living the “ideal” life, things looked good. But underneath the aestethics of a life, that from the outside looked to be thriving, something was shifting.

I entered a period of my life rife with anxiety and panic, as I grappled with a lot of realisations and memories I had locked away from childhood, that now, had to be dealt with.

At 25, I started talk therapy, yoga, moved jobs, location and house. All to make space in my life to deal with past trauma. This stuff takes time and compassion.

Fast forward 15 years later, and I have learned so much about myself and returned to yoga over and over again. Until it became a practice that I just couldn’t get enough of. I then decided to do my teacher training. Now I am at the point where I want to share the benefits of what it can do for mind, body and soul. It truly is life changing.

I am so happy to have found my dharma (purpose) and my focus for next year is to progress my knowledge in areas like, Restorative Yoga (Nervous System), Trauma-Informed Yoga, Myofascial Release and Breathwork. My list goes on as yoga is so expansive.

I believe the integration of yoga practices as a “medicine” into our health system would be of huge benefits for everyone.

For me personally it has become a solid foundation for my life. One I am thankful for everyday.

Discovering The 8 Limbs of Yoga.

Patanjali the author of “The Yoga Sutras” clearly outlined this 8 limbed approach, written across 4 books over 1,700 years ago. If you look at any modern wellness course, program or health retreat it is loosely based I feel on the same threads or at least a few of them.
